1st Hole

This translates from the Gaelic as ‘O’Donnell’s Dream or Vision’. The Glenties hotelier, William O’Donnell was the club’s first Secretary, Captain and President and the driving force behind the foundation of the club. His ambition was to create a golf course to match the best around. He also struck the first official ball on Wednesday morning, July 9th, 1930.

Par 4 – 289m
The first hole is a nice start but a par four is not to be taken for granted.
The ideal play is a lay-up short of the drain, leaving a full second to the elevated green.
Take an extra club and aim for the centre of the shallow green,
which has a treacherous run-off to the front left.
