| This translates from the Gaelic as ‘O’Donnell’s Dream or Vision’. The Glenties hotelier, William O’Donnell was the club’s first Secretary, Captain and President and the driving force behind the foundation of the club. His ambition was to create a golf course to match the best around. He also struck the first official ball on Wednesday morning, July 9th, 1930.
