15th: Inis Caoil
![]() |
|
Its name’s origin is uncertain but the holy island of Inniskeel (or Inis Caoil in the Gaelic) dominates the beach landscape at Narin. St. Conal Caol and St. Dallan are buried among the ruins of the two churches which once served the local community. St. Dallan was the most prominent of the early Gaelic poets and wrote the original words to the hymn, ‘Be Thou My Vision’. St. Conal instigated a pilgrimage or Turas and was noted for his advocacy of Sunday observance. The island can be reached on foot at low tide, giving walkers a two-hour window of opportunity in which to view its many attractions. The 15th hole affords a great view of this pretty island and can be seen on the club crest. Par 5 – 480m |
